Excellent Video on the installation of Prosper 202.
I saw you did 202config.php file modification which I dont remember seeing this in the original instruction. Maybe this is the part that I miss that causes the WP blog to go haywire. Changing the files to binary is also important tip I learn from video.
Well, the whole process looks quite simple from the video and I will definitely try to install it again on another server.
Just use their version, follow your video and you are golden. It would not install properly with the regular Prosper 202 version. They modify a file in there to work correctly with Hostgator and it works like a charm.
Thanks man, I really appreciate it. I’m actually adding a question to the FAQ on how to install Prosper202 with HostGator hosting using that exact version as well as the more techy orientated file replacement.
Yeah, I had to figure it out the hard way and reverse engineer what they were trying to do to get it installed on my server. So I thought I would share it with the Internet Marketing world.
May I know how to download this, since i actually intend to put it up on my Hostgator acccount incidentally for Prosper 202 tracking for affiliates sales
fantastic, after having some kind of “partition error” with mysql, the hostgator is hell thread on the forum and this video resolved my problem. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for producing this video. This is the exact missing link I needed and had spent the entire afternoon combing Prosper202 website for an answer. It works like a charm You’re the best!
Awesome, glad to help out. Thanks so much for the great comment. Comments like this really make my day.
I appreciate it when you let me know the content available here is helpful. It makes it so much easier to keep creating more videos and stuff and keep moving forward.
I don’t understand how you edited the 202-config-sample file in notepad? I do not get the ‘open with’ option. It just says open.
When I hit open, Windows 7 does not know know to open the file and it proceeds to find and online solution.
So I tried renaming the file, which caused another problem. Once I rename it to a txt file I can edit the file but I cannot rename it back to a php file. Even if I rename it 202-config.php the file type remains txt and is rejected after I complete the filezilla upload
Thanks for the video. Very detailed, and it basically walked me through the process step-by-step.
My problem, however, is when you reached step 3 “FTP all files and folders to the server” and you said make sure all transfers are “binary”.
I apologized because I am not super computer savvy although everything else you said up to this point made perfect sense.
I select the files in my folder, but you totally lost me on how to transfer them to my server. Where on my server do I transfer the files? Where do I make the selection to make sure the transfers are binary? I re-watched the video multiple times but I was totally lost on step 3 and what actions to take at this point.
Ok, so you don’t have to do a ‘binary’ transfer anymore with the latest versions of Prosper202. No apologies needed… I started in the same boat, having to learn everything. At least your working it.
My apologies, this is an older video, as soon as I get a chance I’ll update it.
You always have to install Prosper202 in the root of your server. The root of most servers is going to be public_html… You can also install Prosper202 in a sub domain of your existing domain. That would be something like tracking.yourdomain.com
You cannot run Prosper202 with anything else in the root of your domain. It has to run by itself. So select all your files and folders within the Prosper202 file you downloaded and unzipped. You can’t just copy the folder over.
Then upload them to either the root of your domain or the root of your sub domain. And continue following the video. You should be good to go.
I personally like having a dedicated tracking domain to install all my tracking scripts. I’ll do a blog post on how I setup my tracking domain in the near future.
Wow thank you for responding so quickly! I thought I might have to wait a while to get a response but that wasn’t the case.
I did a little more digging and found another video where the person was using Filezilla to do the FTP transfer. That looks similar to what you were using in the video.
I got everything set up, then selected the files and uploaded them to the public_html folder and it looked like everything was processing smoothly.
However at the end of the transfer, it looks like I had 573 successful transfers, but I also had 352 failed transfers. Just glancing at some of the commands and responses, I’m seeing a lot of “critical file transfer error” and “can’t open that file – no such file or directory” or “can’t check for file existence”. Is this a big problem and/or is prosper not going to be correctly installed on my server?
Sorry for all the questions. I will keeping digging for answers in the meantime.
Filezilla will work. I use CuteFTP… It’s a pretty easy to use FTP program.
As far as the errors, I just do a quick visual check to see if everything looks like it transferred ok. So I compare my Prosper202 file on my hard drive to what I uploaded on my web server and see if it’s the same. Don’t go through everything, just check a few files and folders and see if it all looks the same.
Then simply make sure your config file is setup and give it a go. Try to finish the install by browsing to your domain.
If it doesn’t work then you know you need to address whatever error you might get. It’s much easier to address a single error then trying to figure out all the FTP errors you got.
Worse case you’ll need to re-upload all your files and folders again then verify it all and possibly setup your database again.
Hopefully it all works out without all the extra work.

Derek you rock bro. Awesome video, I don’t think, no I KNOW I could not have installed this so quickly without your video, if at all. Top notch bro.
One thing would be good to address in the video is about this not working with Hostgator unless you get this download version: http://www.bluelayermedia.com/prosper202-complete-install-package-hostgator-fix – Something to do with the mySQL stuff,
I am no web guru…
Just use their version, follow your video and you are golden. It would not install properly with the regular Prosper 202 version. They modify a file in there to work correctly with Hostgator and it works like a charm.
Take care man.

Hey Derek,
I have this issue after getting all installed using hostgator
Table ‘nomonies_track.202_delayed_sqls’ doesn’t exist
SELECT delayed_sql FROM 202_delayed_sqls WHERE delayed_time <=1263551760
Hey Sakana,
I’ve added your question to the Prosper202 FAQ page and you can find the answer here:
Problems Installing Prosper202 on HostGator
Thanks for the question.
Please let me know if the solution helps out.
Thanks,
Derek
When I tried to download
it says internal server error
May I know how to download this, since i actually intend to put it up on my Hostgator acccount incidentally for Prosper 202 tracking for affiliates sales

Hey James,
It looks like their server is down at the moment.
Here is a temporary link to get the Prosper202 Special Package until they can get their server back up.

I hope this helps out.

Ok, so I found an answer for the 202-config.php edit.
