Can I use Prosper202 to track my PPC campaigns and keywords on Yahoo Search marketing and MSN primarily for MY OWN products?
Sure... It's a slightly different process to setup Prosper202 for your own products then it is to setup for affiliate marketing. I have created a short video that walks you through the process.
This is the quick and easy Prosper202 setup for product owners. There are more advanced way to setup Prosper202 to track your own products. But this is a great start...

Hi Derek,
Finally, I searched the internet for about a week to find a good PPC tracking software that would allow me to trak at the keyword level. I could’t find it anywhere. I found your site, emailed you to see if it was possible with Prosper 202 to track my own products, not an affiliate products. 2 days later, you put up a video on your blog that shows exactly how to do it.
Thank you so much. you save me hours and hours of research.
Emmanuel
Hey Emmanuel,
You’re so welcome… Glad I could help out. This is a quick and easy way to start tracking your own products with Prosper202.
I’m trying to build a nice questions and answers section for general ad tracking questions as well as Prosper202 tracking questions.
Thanks for the comment, it very much appreciated.
Derek
Hey, Derek
Great Videos, You are the man!!!
I wanted to set up the Prosper 202 and wanted to ask you a question?
I understand the setting up the Ad Campaign and PPC Campaign. Tracking Codes on Landing Page and Thank You Page, because of your great videos.
But, If you are just doing SafeLists Or Traffic Exchanges, how do you track that. Do You Need to Create A PPC Campaign For that. OR do you leave that in.
I want to track SafeList, Traffic Exchanges, Article Marketing and so on.
So I would appreciate the help on this issue.
thanks,
Ray Gollis
Hey Ray,
Thanks man… I really appreciate it.
I haven’t actually used Prosper202 for tracking Safe Lists or Traffic Exchanges, but it should work the same as tracking any web link with Prosper202. I can’t give away exactly how to do it yet, as I do cover it in the Prosper202 videos.
Article Marketing is definitely covered in the Prosepr202 Videos.
I’ll be releasing some more videos in the next couple of weeks once I get the new and updated Prosper202 video’s finished. In those released videos I’ll cover a simple technique for tracking web links, article marketing, and other cool stuff.
Thanks again for the comment I really appreciate it.
Derek
Hey Derek,
Thanks so much for providing me this video. I had watched all your P202 videos, but when I needed a solution for my own offering/landing page, you provided me with this video that I hadn’t seen yet. VERY helpful.
I was able to set everything up just as your video explained. I’m wondering, though, since I don’t actually have a PPC traffic source (I am only tracking articles from ezinearticles.com), is it really necessary to specify a PPC network (e.g. MSN)? For me it just clutters things up in Spy View. Searched keywords are not important for this type of campaign either, at least as far as MY goals are concerned.
Thanks. You da Man!
Jim
Hey Jim,
You’re so welcome… I’ll be going even more in-depth in the new Prosper202 videos and there will be a series just for product owners too.
Thank you for the comment, I really appreciate it…
Well, I always recommend putting something in most of the fields in Prosper202. The exceptions being step #5 and #8 they’re optional and if you’re doing direct linking, step #4 isn’t needed either.
So I would put something simple in there like EZA for the PPC traffic source and add an account as well… I just usually use my first name. I’ve noticed if you don’t use the necessary fields in P202, that sometimes your tracking doesn’t work quite right. So for me it’s better to be safe then sorry.
As far as searched keywords, you don’t really need that with article tracking, but you can set it up like I show in the Prosper202 videos, that’s your choice. It’s not absolutely necessary to use the Searched keywords.
I hope this helped…
Thanks again for the comment,
Derek

Hey Ray,
You’re welcome…
Thanks for the comment… I really appreciate it.
Cool, Big G analytics and Stat Counter is a decent combo… I like real-time analytics so I use Piwik analytics with Prosper202 and Affiliate Prophet for most of my tracking needs.
I’ll dig into Stat Counter when I get a chance. So far I’ve only checked out the website… LOL
I’ll make sure and subscribe to your channel.
Thanks again,
Derek
Great info, I am getting ready to launch prohcgdiet.com and would like to implement prosper for my tracking. I am an experienced user of tracking202 and have prosper installed and ready to go. I would be interested in learning about the advanced tracking that you have mentioned. We will be sending people to various landing pages depending on the traffic source, ppv, FB, POF, etc. Can you highlight some of the pitfalls I may incur or to look out for when setting this up/
Hey Marlon,
Thank you… I’m glad it helped out.
I just wanted to keep the video simple so product owners can get setup. I need to update this video… with the latest version of Prosper202 things have changed a little bit.
The advanced stuff is more difficult to setup and test out. That’s why I kept this one simple. It’s stuff like setting up flow testing and buynow link CTR, and other things like that. It’s really common sense, but hard to get your head around sometimes. You really need to understand how Prosper202 works to integrate some of these things.
And it all depends on what you’re trying to measure and accomplish too… Some folks are happy with just conversion tracking… I personally want a little more data than that.
The biggest pitfalls are not setting things up correctly and especially not testing everything out thoroughly before spending money on traffic. It’s in your best interest to map out each campaign and setup checklists and / or mind maps for each traffic source and landing page so you don’t make mistakes.
You need to get the correct code on the correct pages and verify your tracking is working correctly, that’s huge.
And incidentally that’s where most folks make their mistakes, especially on more difficult campaign setups. It’s easy to want to move fast and just get it done… but that can cost you a small fortune too.
One of the biggest downsides to Prosper202 is the manual setup process. It can be time consuming with larger campaigns.
Thanks for leaving a comment I really appreciate it.
Derek
Hey, Derek,
Ray back again, I have another question, when you put the keyword insertion at the end of the url, like it shows in the videos.
Get Postback Pixel…
How does that work?
Destination Url
[keyword]
So when you put this end of the Url, You keep the end like this after
kw=
So it will give you a list of keywords to track?
That is the confusing part!
Hey Ray,
Awesome… Glad to see you back. I really appreciate it.
I’m not sure exactly what the question is… I’ll do my best.
The tracking pixel is just an image that gets loaded when someone completes the conversion process. You can create it in step #8 of Prosper202… and place it on your thank you page. It allows you to get automagic conversion data in Prosper202.
Destination URL is your tracking link, you create that in step #7 of Prosper202.
And the Dynamic Keyword Insertion (DKI) at the end of your tracking URL… Say for instance in Adwords, you can use DKI to add the searched keyword to your PPC ad. Well you can use that same DKI to add the keyword to your tracking link. That’s how Prosper202 can pickup which keywords are tracked.
Now this will vary on different PPC and even PPV engines.
I hope that helps out…
Thanks for stopping by,
Derek
He Derek,
Great video!
I was able to set up everything just great. I did want to do a simple a/b split test. I think it must be possible no?
If I am to create 2 different LP with the method above and send them to the same tracking pixel will I be able to get an idea of which page converts best? Or do I need to do something more?
Timmy
Hey Timmy,
Thank you… I’m glad the video helped out.
It is possible to do a simple A/B split test, but this is generally not the best way to do it because you really have no control whether the same customer see’s a different page or not.
So What you do is create 2 different landing pages and 2 different campaigns in Prosper202… Name the campaigns something that makes sense – A and – B…
This will be your A / B split test… The reason is so you can create a campaign specific tracking pixel, Advanced Fire.
Then setup both pages and create a campaign specific tracking pixel, one for each page and place both pixels on your thank you page.
That way you can see which page is working best for you. The campaign specific tracking pixels will provide more accurate results.
I hope that helps out…
Thanks,
Derek
Another quick question. I’m using wordpress and I need to track a separate page.
http://meditatie-muziek.com/pagina1/?
Do I just add the question mark after the slash or do I loose the slash?
Hey Timmy,
If you’re using the latest version of Prosper202 1.6.1, then you no longer need to add the ‘?’…
You link can be normal because in the latest versions 1.5+ there are place holders now. So it no longer automagically adds a number to the end of your link.
So your link can be http://meditatie-muziek.com/pagina1/
and you’ll be good to go.
I hope that helps out…

Derek,
Here is my setup. I am using AWeber for a email list generator and have a landing page in which the opt-in for the email list directs to an affiliate’s page that lists the product. (As an incentive to opt-in I provide a free ebook, newsletter, and link back to my website). My question is: Can I use Prosper202 to track conversions at the affiliate’s page whenever the visitor buys the product. Thanks.
Don
Hey Don,
Do you send the visitors that opt-in to a confirmation page or straight to the affiliate offer? Assuming you’re doing double opt-ins of course. Or is it after they confirm that you send them to the affiliate offer.
If the affiliate offer supports Subid’s than you should be able to track conversions… You can setup Prosper202 for direct link tracking and use that link for your redirect in Aweber. So when they opt in, Aweber re-directs them to your Prosper202 direct link which redirects them to the affiliate offer.
Then when you get conversions you can run a report and update Prosper202 manually. It’s a little tedious but it should work.
I hope that helps out…
Thanks,
Derek
Derek,
I am a little confused about using Prosper202 with Aweber. I will be using PPV which will show my landing page based on select URLs chosen by the user. On the landing page I have a Aweber web form with a email opt-in. Once the user chooses to opt-in, he is taken directly to the affiliate offer without confirmation. Both Aweber and Prosper202 have affiliate link submission. Prosper202 has the subids which I will need to use for tracking. However, I do want the capability of list building from AWeber software. How do I specify the affiliate link page so that sales conversions are tracked in Prosper202 but list building is allowed in AWeber. I can use either tool individually, but when I combined them, I don’t know how the subids are carried through from Prosper202 to AWeber. Thanks.
Don
Hey Don,
Well, I haven’t tested this out myself… I guess I need to do a case study similar to this setup and get it working well so I can do a video on it.
As long as you’re doing manual conversion updates of Prosper202 (subid reports and update tab in P202) you can probably use a P202 direct link to the affiliate offer and make that the go to link within Aweber.
That should allow you to use Aweber to create the list and track opt-ins as well as Prosper202 to track your affiliate offer conversions.
I’ll put together a case study for this type of scenario and do some testing and see if I can come up with a better way to track using both.
I hope that helps out…
Thanks,
Derek
hi, thanks for the video.
I need to track all my paid traffic with prosper 202.
I have 5 different domain, I need to install 5 times prosper202?
or can i install p202 in 1 domain ex: trackallproduct.com ?
i ask this because i need my tracking link without redirect ex: product1 http://www.product1.com/? product2 http://www.product2.com/? etc..
thanks
Hey Federico,
You can install Prosper202 on one domain and use it for all of your tracking. As long as you’re using landing pages then no redirect is needed within the destination URL.
If you want to track landing page CTR, then you use the step #6 redirect code for the click-through link itself, not the tracking link.
I hope that makes sense.
Thanks for the comment,
Derek
Hi Derek
Im in need of some help as I have never set up tracking before. Your video is helpful but Im still a bit confused as to how I set up tracking for my PPC campaigns with MSN. I have two review style sites that have affiliate offers from clickbank. I will have campaigns running for both sites with several ads for each using a variety of different keywords. I need to be able to track my ads and the keywords I use for those ads. Can you help me set that up as I cant activate my campaigns until the tracking has been properly set up. I dont want to get it wrong as the tracking is crucial for me to work out which keywords are profitable and which ones are not.
Hey Lindsay,
Sorry it took so long to respond.
Setting up the tracking isn’t very hard once you’ve done it a few times. As with anything new, it can be hard to get your head around in the beginning.
Are you using Prosper202 for your tracking? Or using something like the built-in MSN tracking?
Since these are Clickbank products the MSN tracking is built into Clickbank. Might make things a little easier the first time around. Clickbank doesn’t offer a generic tracking capability or tracking pixel like most affiliate networks. So the only other way is Subid tracking which is a little more manual as you need to pull conversion reports and update your Prosper202 server.
I honestly prefer using Prosper202 but that’s just me. It’s a little more tedious to setup, but I like protecting my data as most Clickbank product owners are marketers too. If you give them your campaign data, they just may steal it from you. Not always but it does happen.
I hope that helps out some. Once I know where you are and what you want to use for tracking, it’s a little easier to answer this question.
Thanks for stopping by,
Derek
